MINI Singapore has unveiled the latest generation of the Cooper and Countryman models, now available with both petrol and electric drivetrains. The launch event took place at One Holland Village, home to the MINI Pitstop, Eurokars’ pop-up store for the brand. The major update for these models is the introduction of a fully electric drivetrain option for both the Cooper and Countryman.
At launch, both models come in three variants: two electric and one petrol. The MINI Cooper is offered as the Cooper S, Cooper E, and Cooper SE, while the MINI Countryman variants include the John Cooper Works (JCW) Countryman, Countryman E, and Countryman SE. The Cooper S and JCW Countryman are the petrol-powered options, while the E and SE denote the electric versions.
The new Cooper and Countryman also feature a complete redesign inside and out, embracing the "Charismatic Simplicity" design language. MINI has ensured that traditional brand values are maintained through a minimalist approach that emphasizes purist design.
The interior of the new MINIs has been overhauled with a refreshed minimalist aesthetic. A highlight is the iconic round center screen, which houses the infotainment system and driving information. The new UI is specifically designed to utilize the round shape, moving away from the conventional rectangular screens used in older models.
Performance-wise, the electric Cooper E and SE are equipped with new batteries, offering extended ranges of 305 km and 402 km, respectively. The single electric motor powers the front axle, allowing the Cooper E to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds and the Cooper SE in 6.7 seconds. Despite this, the petrol-powered Cooper S remains faster with a 0-100 km/h time of 6.6 seconds, thanks to its 198 hp and 300 Nm torque engine.
Similarly, the new Countryman range features impressive performance specs. The JCW Countryman, powered by a 2-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine, produces 292 hp and 400 Nm of torque, achieving a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.4 seconds. The electric Countryman E ALL4 and SE ALL4 come with dual motors for all-wheel drive, completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 8.6 seconds and 5.6 seconds, respectively.
Charging capabilities for the electric models are also noteworthy, with the ability to use DC fast chargers to go from 10% to 80% battery in just 30 minutes. The new MINI range is now available in Singapore, with prices starting at S$195,888 for the MINI Cooper E, including COE, and reaching up to S$292,888 for the MINI JCW Countryman.
