Updated: Dec 13, 2023

Kia's groundbreaking EV9 electric SUV has stormed onto the scene, marking the Korean automaker's pioneering entry into the three-row flagship electric SUV segment. Unveiled through a global online launch, the EV9 prioritizes sustainability and zero-emissions mobility, solidifying Kia's commitment to the future of eco-friendly vehicles.

The President and CEO, Ho Sung Song, highlights the EV9 as a leap beyond conventional SUV paradigms, epitomizing Kia's pinnacle in design and engineering. Beyond its advanced EV architecture, the EV9 champions sustainable mobility through its utilization of recycled and eco-conscious materials, aligning with Kia's rapid shift toward eco-friendly solutions.

Seated on the Hyundai Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), shared with Kia's EV6 crossover, the EV9 promises stellar on-road performance and impressive range. Offering an extraordinary WLTP range of 541 kilometers on a single charge, coupled with rapid 800V charging capabilities providing 239 kilometers in just 15 minutes, the EV9 stands tall in the electric SUV domain.

Measuring at 5,010 mm lengthwise (with a 3,100 mm wheelbase), 1,980 mm width, and 1,755 mm in height, the EV9 reigns as Kia's largest SUV, embodying its flagship stature while boasting an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.28, akin to its EV6 counterpart.

The EV9's design boasts a striking "Digital Tiger Face," characterized by vertical headlamps and dynamic LED daytime running lights. The GT-Line variant elevates its appeal with aggressive aesthetics, virtual side mirrors, and a sleek black color scheme, ensuring a distinctive presence.

Offering three variants: RWD Standard Range, RWD Long Range, and AWD models, Kia provides diverse powertrain options catering to various needs. From a powerful 283 kW AWD configuration to a swift 0-100 km/h acceleration of 5.3 seconds with the Boost feature, the EV9 packs versatility and performance.

Versatility extends to its interior, offering six or seven-seater configurations with adaptable second-row seating options. Owners can personalize their experience with relaxation seats for charging or opt for swivel seats enabling face-to-face interactions.

The EV9's cabin delivers user-centric features, including a Panoramic Wide Display and Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) system, providing an intuitive interface and EV-specific information at the driver's fingertips.

Underlining its commitment to sustainability, Kia incorporates bio-based materials and nature-inspired color schemes within the EV9's construction and interior design, showcasing a fusion of innovation and eco-consciousness.

Furthermore, Kia integrates Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, empowering owners to leverage the vehicle's battery power for external devices, offering up to 3.68 kW for various utilities.

Looking ahead, Kia will integrate the Highway Driving Pilot (HDP) system, equipping the EV9 GT-Line with conditional Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities, promising enhanced safety through advanced sensors and collision prevention measures.

Emphasizing safety as a paramount concern, the EV9 features a robust chassis design and groundbreaking B-pillar connection structure technology, ensuring superior occupant protection and safeguarding the vehicle's batteries.

The EV9 symbolizes Kia's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and safety, marking a monumental stride in the realm of flagship electric SUVs.
