Audi's groundbreaking electric vehicle undergoes a significant transformation, stepping into a new era as the Q8 e-tron, aligning with the brand's electric model nomenclature strategy. But this transition signifies more than just a name change for this electric SUV.
The revamped Q8 e-tron brings substantial exterior refinements that go beyond aesthetics. The refreshed fascia not only enhances the SUV's appearance but also reduces aerodynamic drag, achieving impressive efficiency figures of 0.24 for the Q8 Sportback e-tron and 0.27 for the Q8 e-tron.
Notable enhancements extend to the wheels, wheel spoilers, and a novel self-sealing system, designed to optimize airflow and minimize pressure losses. Innovations like a rubber lip and plastic element ensure an airtight seal when louvres are closed, preventing leaks and maintaining optimal aerodynamics.
Under the hood, substantial advancements in battery and motor technologies mark the Q8 e-tron's evolution. Equipped with a larger 95 kWh battery, a notable increase from its predecessor's 71 kWh capacity, these models exhibit remarkable range improvements. Charging capabilities have also surged to 150 kW for DC charging, elevating the SUV's range to 491 and 505 kilometers for the SUV and Sportback variants, respectively, surpassing the previous model's 328 to 347 kilometers.
But what about its driving experience? The new Q8 e-tron models offer a familiar yet enhanced driving feel, maintaining the original SUV's driving characteristics. Notably, the updated drive units boast increased throttle response, generating higher torque with reduced current, elevating the driving engagement. Minor yet impactful chassis tweaks amplify agility and steering precision, instilling greater confidence in handling.
